Unifi has launched a full ground handling operation for TUI Airways at London’s Gatwick Airport, effective March 4 — marking a significant milestone for the company’s growing presence across the UK and Ireland.
Unifi will support up to 195 weekly departures this summer at both North and South Terminals delivering passenger services, ramp handling and baggage make-up, plus all dispatch services for TUI, the UK’s fourth-largest airline by passenger numbers.
“We’re excited to bring new innovation and fresh thinking to ground handling in the UK,” said Stefan Murphy, CEO, Unifi UK. “With Gatwick’s growth ambitions and the approval of the second runway, we feel this is a great place to begin our journey in ground handling.”
This partnership builds on Unifi’s decade-long relationship with TUI at Eindhoven Airport, supported by Viggo — a premier ground handler in the Netherlands that Unifi acquired in January, marking the company’s expansion into continental Europe.
Unifi now has more than 350 dedicated colleagues working at Gatwick, and as operations grow, further job opportunities will be created.
To support the expanded operation, Unifi has introduced more than 170 new ground service assets. Ninety-five percent of the motorized equipment is fully electric, reinforcing the company’s commitment to sustainable ground handling and reduced airport emissions.
The operation leverages state-of-the-art operational technology, including telematics systems and digital operation tools, to enhance fleet visibility, operational efficiency and safety.
Gatwick is the UK’s second largest airport, handling 42.7 million passengers in 2025. It is a major gateway for leisure and business travel across Europe and beyond.
